Our Story

It started on the front step of a Salisbury, Maryland home. Our founder, John Feldman, and his late friend, Greg Menefee, were recounting events of the night prior.

“We should write a movie about our lives,” Greg said, gazing out into the sunrise with a smile.

Greg didn’t expect much of it. The words were a half-joke — the sound waves meant to travel off into the distance and evaporate into thin air.

But they didn’t make it far.

John absorbed those words and they planted a seed. Then the thought came. Could we? Would it be possible? Could it be successful? And if so, could it be a career? (Until that very moment, no career choice had ever seemed interesting. Ideas were entertained but soon dismissed.)

What transpired from that very moment was a love of writing. Several screenplays, fiction novels, and short stories later, John found his true love: ghostwriting. Helping others to turn their ideas into high-quality books is what energized him.

It was here that he realized the potential of stories. He discovered that so many individuals have unique, inspiring stories in them, but they didn’t feel skilled enough in the craft of writing to get these stories out into the world.

John knew he could help. And he did. As a freelance ghostwriter, he has produced dozens of books and worked with business leaders, war veterans, and professional athletes.

After 13 years freelancing, he found the desire to help further. There were still issues with the ghostwriting process and they were hindering stories from being told. From pricing and accessibility issues to time constraints and efficiency concerns, the writing was on the wall:

Something needed to change.

In 2021, after years of conceptualizing and research — and lessons learned from past clients-turned-mentors — Visionary Literary was born.

The mission for John and Visionary Literary is to eliminate roadblocks preventing aspiring authors from sharing their wisdom. . .

to allow one’s words to positively impact others’ lives — the way Greg’s words impacted John’s.

Our Core Values

We like to R.E.A.D.
These aren’t just words on our website for display. They’re our code — how we live every day.

We always view the glass as half-full. We are happy people and we see the best in every situation.

Empathize and have an open mind

We understand that everyone is unique and has a different outlook on life. When situations arise where we have an opinion, we celebrate the fact that we all have different frames of reference and we listen to other’s positions rationally.

Always act with integrity

We have strong moral principles and do the right thing, even when nobody is watching.

Demonstrate consistent curiosity

We always have a desire to improve. We ask questions, we read, and we study others who wish to emulate. We always assume that we can get better.

Mission

To produce meaningful, impactful books that can change the lives of readers and create a better future for the world and its inhabitants.
